Can’t Relax?

It’s Not Laziness—It’s Your Self-Esteem Talking.

Ever sit down to relax and suddenly feel guilty like you should be “doing something”? That’s your brain tricking you.

Here’s what’s really going on:

1. When you have low self-esteem, your mind believes:

“I have to DO something useful, or I’m worthless.”

2. Relaxing feels wrong because deep down you think just being yourself isn’t good enough.

Why this matters:

If you always avoid relaxation, you’re telling yourself, “I’m only valuable when I’m productive.” But that’s NOT TRUE.

Here’s how you fix it:

Notice the guilt. Just notice it without blaming yourself.  Say, “Oh, there’s my brain doing that thing again.” Flip the script.

Tell yourself gently, “I don’t need to prove anything.  I’m good enough even if I’m just sitting here.” Practice being bored. Let yourself sit quietly for 5 minutes a day.  It’s okay if it feels weird at first.

That feeling means you’re growing.

Takeaway:

“You’re valuable because of who you are, not what you do.”

Read that again. You’re enough—even when you’re doing nothing.
