why would the infinite creator make a world with suffering

The Infinite Creator is beyond every name and description.

But Jewish law still allows us to describe Him as King of the universe, because that is the relationship structure a human being can actually practice.

A king is not just power.

A true king creates belonging.

A true king gives people a way to live with responsibility, awe, trust, purpose, and pleasure.

Real Pleasure Is Not Escape

Not cheap pleasure.

Not distraction.

Not escaping reality.

Real pleasure means feeling that goodness is safe to receive.

But for a human being, goodness also has to be earned.

Not because The Creator needs payment.

Not because love is a transaction.

Because human nature feels shame when it receives goodness it did not become ready for. – based on a talk of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.

A person can be handed pleasure and still feel unimportant inside.

A person can be given love and still feel undeserving.

A person can receive goodness and still run from it, sabotage it, or turn it into ego.

Goodness Has To Be Chosen

That is why The Creator made a world where goodness has to be chosen through responsibility.

When a person chooses truth, repairs what he can, refines his character, and learns how to receive without entitlement, the goodness does not crush him with shame.

He can enjoy it.

He can belong to it.

He can receive it as relationship, not as embarrassment.

That is real pleasure.

Why Make The Story So Painful?

And that raises a deeper question:

If The Creator wanted human beings to earn goodness so they could receive it without shame, why make the story so painful?

Why make a world where it took centuries before a people truly wanted to belong to Him?

Why create a reality with so much sadness, confusion, idolatry, exile, shame, and suffering?

Relationship Cannot Be Forced

One answer is that relationship cannot be forced.

A person can be overwhelmed.

A person can be controlled.

A person can be frightened into obedience.

But belonging has to be chosen.

And pleasure has to be chosen too.

The Creator could have made a world where His goodness was impossible to miss.

But then human beings would not learn how to want Him.

They would only be overwhelmed by Him.

That is not relationship.

That is not real pleasure.

Real pleasure comes when a person recognizes goodness, trusts it, chooses it, and becomes responsible enough to receive it without shame.

The Sadness Is Hidden Goodness

The sadness of this world is not that The Creator is absent.

The sadness is that His goodness is hidden enough that human beings can misunderstand Him, run from Him, distort Him, or replace Him with false versions of spirituality.

That is why it matters to be precise.

The Infinite Creator is not a human being.

He is not Yeshu.

He is not a broken personality.

He is not the false image of Acher, the damaged self of Elisha ben Avuya.

The Creator is the source of existence itself.

The King of the universe.

The One whose goodness is hidden, but never absent.

History Is Learning To Belong To Truth

From the beginning, the human struggle was not only obedience.

Adam and Eve were placed in a world of goodness, but creation already included a painful condition:

Human beings can feel separate from The Creator’s oneness.

That felt separation is real to the nervous system.

It makes a person vulnerable to fear, shame, suspicion, and survival mode.

The serpent did not create that vulnerability.

The serpent spoke into it.

Maybe The Creator is holding something back.

Maybe His command is not really for your good.

Maybe separateness from Him will give you more pleasure.

That is the root of unhealthy thinking.

It is also the beginning of generational trauma.

Not because human beings are bad.

Because once fear enters human nature, it gets practiced, inherited, repeated, and normalized.

The serpent’s thinking triggered survival mode.

  1. 1. Fight. Control.

2. Flight. Avoidance.

3. Freeze. Numbness.

4. Fawn, people pleasing.

Unhealthy thinking does not only create bad choices.

It creates self-hatred.

Because once a person believes goodness is not safe, responsibility feels like humiliation, truth feels like an attack, and correction feels like proof that he is worthless.

That is how confusion becomes shame.

And the whole story of history is humanity learning how to stop worshiping that confusion and start belonging to truth.

That is why sadness matters.

Healthy sadness is not despair.

Healthy sadness is the pain of realizing that The Creator’s goodness could be more revealed in the world, in people, and in me.

That sadness protects real pleasure.

Because if I do not feel sadness that goodness is hidden, I will settle for fake pleasure.

  1. I will settle for distraction.

I will settle for ego.

I will settle for being wanted by people who do not really see me.

I will settle for comfort without truth.

But real pleasure comes from relationship with truth.

It comes from being connected to goodness without running from responsibility.

It comes from awe that does not crush a person, and closeness that does not make a person selfish.

Repair Becomes Relationship

That sadness can become responsibility.

That responsibility can become repair.

That repair can become relationship.

And relationship becomes the deepest pleasure a human being can know.
