Connecting with G-d feels impossible sometimes, right?

How can I—just a regular, limited human—possibly relate to an unlimited, infinite G-d?

I used to struggle with this question, too.

I’d feel lonely, overwhelmed, and disconnected, wondering if my human experience even mattered.

But then I learned something simple and powerful:

We don’t connect with G-d by becoming powerful or smarter. We connect by meeting G-d on G-d’s terms.

Here’s exactly how it works:

1. Awe: Like standing in front of an ocean and realizing how huge it is, awe lets your mind and heart know something bigger than yourself.

2. Love: Think about someone you care deeply about.

You naturally want what makes them happy.

Connecting with God means caring about what God desires (a relationship).

3. Yearning: Have you ever really missed someone?

Yearning means wanting closeness even if it feels beyond your reach. These feelings—Awe, Love, Yearning—build your bridge to G-d.

If you’re feeling disconnected right now, try this:

1. Pause for a moment.

2. Think about one thing bigger than yourself that fills you with wonder.

Like a type of kindness that happens, nature, etc.

3. Just feel it deeply without trying to control it.

Then silently say, “G-d, I’m here, ready to connect—even if I don’t fully understand.”

Because connection isn’t about understanding everything—it’s about being open enough to feel everything.

The takeaway:

You don’t need infinite understanding. You just need an open heart and mind. Ever felt this kind of overwhelm?

You’re not alone—let’s talk about it.
