When you feel the sadness of distance from G-d, it shows your heart is still alive, still reaching. Sadness can sink you into despair… but when it’s about missing G-d, it flips into longing. And longing is a raw material of awe.
Because awe isn’t just noticing greatness — it’s being moved by it.
The paradox:
You feel small before Infinity. Yet you also sense that Infinity wants you close. That’s when sadness becomes wonder. That’s when distance becomes awe.
Salt in dough doesn’t ruin the bread. It brings out the flavor.
Sadness, when turned toward G-d, brings out awe.
