Not far away watching from the outside.

How does light help us understand G-d?

Kabbalah uses light to explain how G-d connects to the world. Not because G-d is light, but because light helps us understand something important.

Light has two simple qualities:

1. Light shows there is a source

If you see light, you know something is shining.

2. Light is not the source itself

The sun isn’t inside the beam.

The source stays bigger than what you see. This is how G-d relates to the world.

What does a relationship with G-d look like?

That’s why:

1. What you do matters

2. The choices you make matter

3. What you feel inside matters

A relationship with G-d doesn’t mean understanding Him.

It means:

1. responding — noticing life and answering it

2. listening — paying attention, not just talking

3. living the right way — practicing compassion, healthy boundaries, justice, kindness

4. trusting — staying connected even when things don’t make sense (like reminding yourself that everything comes from One Source, and feeling awe)

Just like with someone you love, you don’t understand them all the time, but the relationship is real.

Questions people ask

Is a relationship with G-d really possible?

Yes. G-d is not far away, watching from the outside. Kabbalah uses light to explain how G-d connects to the world. Because of that, what you do, the choices you make, and what you feel inside all matter. A relationship does not need full understanding.

Is G-d the same as light in Kabbalah?

No. Kabbalah uses light to explain how G-d connects to the world, but G-d is not light. Light just helps us understand something important. Light shows there is a source, but light is not the source itself. The sun isn’t inside the beam, and the source stays bigger than what you see.

Do I have to understand G-d to have a relationship with Him?

No. A relationship with G-d doesn’t mean understanding Him. Just like with someone you love, you don’t understand them all the time, but the relationship is real. What matters is responding to life, listening, and trusting. Living the right way means practicing skills like compassion, healthy boundaries, justice and kindness.

How can I trust G-d when things don’t make sense?

Trusting means staying connected even when things don’t make sense. One way to do this: remind yourself that everything comes from One Source, and feel awe. Like with someone you love, you don’t understand them all the time, but the relationship is real.
