What if understanding G-d was way simpler than you thought?

I used to feel lost anytime someone talked about “connecting with G-d.”

I’d think:

“Isn’t G-d infinite?

How could I possibly matter?”

Then, I came across an idea based on Kabbalah. It completely changed how I understood spirituality.

Here’s the simple truth:

G-d didn’t create the world because He was bored or lonely—He created it because He contains compassion/love itself. Think about the moment a parent holds their newborn child. There’s nothing the baby can “do” to earn love. They simply exist—and yet, they’re completely loved.

That’s exactly how G-d feels about you.

G-d isn’t waiting for you to be perfect or impressive. He simply desires connection. He created the world—complicated, full of ups and downs—because He wants to connect with beings who choose Him, even when it’s hard. Feeling overwhelmed by spirituality?

Try this:

1. Remind yourself:

“G-d contains compassion/love itself.

He wants closeness, not perfection.”

2. Next time you feel stuck or disconnected, ask yourself,

“What would it look like to let G-d be compassionate to me right now?”

Think about the self-compassion, self-forgiveness, or boundaries you should give yourself.

What would you give yourself and others? When you start seeing G-d as containing compassion/love itself, connection becomes simple, natural, and real.

You don’t have to impress G-d—just let Him love you.
