Whenever I made mistakes, I’d move into fear—believing G-d couldn’t possibly care about me unless I was perfect.
This made me freeze up or desperately try to please Him, hoping He wouldn’t abandon me. But I learned something powerful:
Nothing about G-d changes because of our mistakes or struggles.
Think of a parent with their infant:
When the baby drops a toy or stumbles, the parent doesn’t change. Their care and presence remain the same.
Imagine this:
You learn new things every day. New ideas change your perspective. But G-d doesn’t learn or change. He already knows everything simply by knowing Himself. Even after creating mountains, oceans, and your complex emotions, G-d remains exactly the same as He always was.
Why does this matter?
Because it means you’re never truly disconnected. Feeling lonely or overwhelmed? That’s not proof that G-d stepped away. In fact, these moments are exactly where you can find G-d closest.
Two simple things you can do today:
1. When overwhelmed, quietly remind yourself:
“This feeling isn’t separation—it’s an invitation to find G-d right here.”
2. Notice one simple thing today (the smell of coffee, the feel of sunlight), and tell yourself:
“G-d isn’t just watching this moment—He’s IN it.”
Your struggles aren’t proof of distance—they’re proof of connection.
