Why?

Why is there distance between us and G-d?

Because the distance between us and the One who created everything is immense.

If that distance were erased, relationship would be impossible. There would be no “you,” no choice, no response,

only absorption into His oneness.

For relationship to exist at all, creation required concealment, His presence feeling hidden, so that we could exist as separate beings, capable of standing before Him.

When that distance is ignored, the relationship becomes imaginary, shaped by fantasies. When it’s acknowledged, the relationship becomes real.

How does a real relationship begin?

Every real relationship begins by recognizing who you’re standing before.

With a friend, it begins with familiarity.

With a parent, it begins with trust.

With a king, it begins with awe.

What is awe made of?

Awe is a blend of humility, fear and wonder.

When you trust He is good, love happens and that intimacy includes sadness because His goodness can always be more revealed, fear because it means our choices matter.

A ruler–subject relationship only exists when there is real distance, felt otherness, and responsibility.

Without that distance, there can be closeness, but not relationship between the finite and the Infinite.

Awe is the awareness that:

1. This relationship is real

2. Your choices matter

3. Everything does not depend on you, yet you can be a channel for His goodness

Only after that can closeness be felt.

How does awe grow through trust instead of fear?

Awe through trust forms through reflection, not fear.

By noticing ideas like:

1. You are being brought into existence right now, not once long ago

2. Your life is not accidental, it is wanted

3. The Creator knows the entire story of humanity from outside time

4. And still, your choices inside this moment matter to Him

That realization creates awe, a mix of humility, wonder, responsibility, fear, safety and causes love when you trust He is good. Once awe is felt, love can be felt. Because love requires trust. And trust requires knowing the relationship is real.

What grows out of awe?

From awe comes love and joy. From joy come acts of generosity, kindness, and compassionate boundaries. Not as obligation, but as overflow.

This is how G-dliness spreads in the world.

Not through fear.
