Story from Rabbi YY that teaches how being alone can make us kinder.
The Chernobyl Maggid was in jail, he was involved in pidyan shevuin for a lot of his life, he was experiencing difficult feelings about being in jail.
Women cleaner entered the area he was in and asked – what does lech lecha mean, why was it needed? He gave explanations that it’s for his benefit, His name became great through going, etc
She explained that now avraham can give empathy to the people he helps bc he knows what it’s like to be a stranger, his greatness was through chesed, now he better knows/understands what type of compassion and kindness a visitor/stranger needs to feel welcome/comfortable so he knows how to be a greater source of kindness in the world.
Besht asked the chernobyl Maggid afterwards, what did it feel like to learn tora from sara imeinu?

The blog lists all the difference patterns to study, understanding patterns is how one can develop 'Daas' [felt knowing].
Update: As awe, trust, and love deepen, they can allow greater openness and intimacy with the Creator. That intimacy can include sadness when you notice how much more of His goodness can be revealed.
