Saying "thank you" shouldn't feel like homework. Here's why it does.

Gratitude Annoys You?

Listen to this articleReady

Good.

Here’s Why:

“Just be grateful!”

You’ve heard it a thousand times.

But if gratitude feels annoying or forced,

that’s actually important.

Here are surprising reason:

Your brain is protecting you.

Wait, protecting you from gratitude?

Exactly.

If someone once demanded obedience from you,

your sense of freedom and safety got lost.

Gratitude stopped feeling real.

It became stressful, forced, and fake.

Like having to smile at someone who hurt you.

Maybe you’ve felt:

1. Pressured to say “thank you” when you didn’t mean it.

2. Annoyed by people telling you how you “should” feel.

3. Guilty because gratitude doesn’t feel natural.

Here’s the secret no one tells you:

Your mind puts up walls around emotions that feel unsafe.

Even good ones, like gratitude.

But those walls don’t just block feelings.

They also keep you feeling disconnected, from yourself, from others, from The Creator.

So what can you do?

1. Stop forcing it:

Look for tiny moments that feel good.

A warm drink.

A text from a friend.

2. Notice your walls:

When gratitude feels annoying, pause.

Ask yourself: “What feels unsafe about this?”

Your annoyance isn’t wrong,it’s a guide.

Real gratitude never feels forced.

It finds you when you stop pretending.

You don’t need to chase gratitude.

Just let it find you.

The blog lists all the difference patterns to study, understanding patterns is how one can develop 'Daas' [felt knowing].
Update: As awe, trust, and love deepen, they can allow greater openness and intimacy with the Creator. That intimacy can include sadness when you notice how much more of His goodness can be revealed.
