You may lose trust in yourself, develop unhealthy habits like people-pleasing, or become more numb, afraid, ashamed, or defensive. You may even start feeling like something about you is permanently damaged.
But deep healing does not come from rejecting the part of you that failed. ๐ด
โ โ โ
Healing begins by helping that part understand:
โWhat happened matters, but you still belong in my story.โ
That does not mean pretending the wrong thing never happened. The behavior happened, the consequences can be real, and something may need to be repaired. You may need to apologize, change a habit, create a boundary, or make a different choice.
But responsibility does not require believing that part of you became unwanted. ๐ด
โ โ โ
This can also change how you understand your relationship with the Creator.
There is a level of that relationship deeper than your success and deeper than your failure. You did not create it by behaving perfectly, so a mistake cannot erase its deepest source.
The Creator wanted your existence before you ever had the chance to succeed or fail.
Your belonging came first. ๐ด
โ โ โ
Deep change has two movements.
First, you discover something deeper than the shame, fear, desire, or behavior. You become aware:
โThis mistake is part of my story, but it is not the deepest truth about me. I still belong in my relationship with the Creator, and I am still wanted enough to repair.โ ๐ด
But that awareness is not enough.
The deeper work is bringing it into every layer of your personality.
โ โ โ
The ashamed part, the afraid part, the numb part, the part that wanted the unhealthy behavior, and the part that still has to take responsibility all have to gradually discover:
โI am still inside the relationship.โ
That does not mean every desire is healthy or every behavior should be accepted.
It means you do not have to reject a part of yourself before you can help it change. ๐ด
โ โ โ
Instead of thinking:
โI have to get rid of this part of me so I can become good again,โ
you can think:
โThis part also belongs in my story, so I can understand it, guide it, create boundaries for it, and help it become more responsible.โ ๐ด
โ โ โ
This is where opposites can begin to come together.
You can regret what you did and still know you are loved. You can take responsibility without turning responsibility into shame. You can accept yourself without approving of every behavior. You can feel deeply wanted while still knowing that your choices matter.
You can also feel awe and love together: awe because you are deeply aware of the Creator [through noticing patterns of infinite wisdom] and your choices matter before Him, and love because that awareness can also include trust, closeness, appreciation, and sadness because His goodness can always be more revealed.
Deep intimacy is strong enough to hold all of this at once. ๐ด
โ โ โ
Changing an unhealthy desire can also require something deeper than fighting it.
The old desire had a direction. Maybe it wanted comfort, control, approval, pleasure, escape, safety or protection from rejection.
People-pleasing, for example, can be an attempt to feel safe by keeping other people pleased with you. If you only tell yourself, โStop wanting that,โ the deeper need can remain.
Real change can mean developing a new desire from somewhere deeper:
I want honesty more than hiding. I want intimacy more than control. I want responsibility more than escape. I want to reveal more goodness than I did before. ๐ด
โ โ โ
Then that new awareness has to enter ordinary life: the conversation you were avoiding, the boundary you need to create, the way you respond when shame appears, and how you use your body, money, attention, sexuality, anger, or fear.
The deepest spiritual awareness matters most when it reaches the parts of life where you previously felt divided. ๐ด
โ โ โ
The ashamed part can become more honest. The fearful part can learn more trust. The selfish part can learn to notice other people. The numb part can slowly learn that feeling is safe.
Even the part that caused harm can learn responsibility without losing its sense of belonging. ๐ด
โ โ โ
Then a painful part of your story can become part of a deeper relationship, not because the wrong thing was secretly good, but because you can bring awareness, compassion, responsibility, and intimacy into a place that once felt disconnected from them.
The deepest truth is not:
โNothing happened.โ
It is:
โMy mistake is part of my story. It does not make me unworthy of love or relationship.โ
Deep emotional healing means helping every part of you know that too. ๐ด
