left the Jewish people with generational PTSD.

Where Does This Generational Trauma Come From?

In addition to the trauma every society carries from generations of war, poverty, and survival,

which already gives all of humanity a baseline of inherited PTSD.

And on top of that shared human suffering,

the Jewish people endured forced conversions, expulsions, censorship, pogroms, torture, and systemic pressure under Christian empires.

What Would the Founder Actually Want?

And if you look honestly at the founder they claim to follow,

it becomes obvious:

He would never have wanted an institution using his name to traumatize an entire people just trying to survive.

If anything, the moral message attributed to him points in the opposite direction:

If injustice was done in his name,

he would want healing done in his name too.

Whose Responsibility Is It to Heal This?

So the real question isn’t theological,

it’s ethical:

If an institution caused collective psychological harm for 1400 years,

shouldn’t that same institution take responsibility for funding the healing of the people it wounded?

This isn’t about blame.

It’s about repairing a fracture in human history,

and creating a future with less inherited pain.

Questions people ask

Why do Jewish people carry generational trauma?

For centuries, an institution used its founder's name to hurt Jewish people through forced conversions, expulsions, and violence. That kind of pain does not just disappear. It gets passed down, generation to generation, the same way all people inherit some stress from war and hard times. This is generational PTSD.

What is generational PTSD?

Generational PTSD means the stress and fear from hard times gets passed from parents to children. Every society carries some of this from war, poverty, and survival. For Jewish people, centuries of institutional antisemitism added even more weight on top of that shared human burden.

Should the institution that caused this harm help pay for healing?

The article asks exactly this, and its answer is yes. If an institution caused collective pain for fourteen hundred years, it makes sense for that same institution to help fund the healing of the people it hurt. This is not about punishment. It is about taking responsibility and repairing real damage.

Is this article trying to place blame?

No. The article says plainly that this isn't about blame. It's about naming a fracture in human history so it can be repaired. The goal is a future with less inherited pain, for the Jewish people and for anyone still carrying pain passed down from generations before them.
